Prior to this new posting, Noel Tata’s more public facing role was that of Managing Director, Tata International Ltd., the trading and distribution arm of the Tata Group.

From 2010 to 2021 he was already in the leadership of the company and when he joined it was making a turnover of $500 million and by the time he left the company’s turnover was more than $3 billion to show that he was also producing results within a competitive era.

Noel Tata was once expected to take the position of chairman of Tata Sons but the reins where then passed on to Cyrus Mistry, Noel’s brother-in-law. But after the much debated removal of Mistry, the Tata group’s chairman designation was handed over to N Chandrasekaran who was the head of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
