The SIT of Karnataka CID has named former JDS MP Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna in a chargesheet lodged in the case.
The SIT which is probing four cases of sexual assault and harassment levelled against Prajwal Revanna has filed the first chargesheet in the four cases including the 2,144-page chargesheet before the special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru on Friday.
The SIT has filed a case of rape against Prajwal Revanna and the victim was a women who worked as a domestic help in the house. HD Revanna has been charged with sexual harassment.
According to the chargesheet that has been filed the accused in the case is HD Revanna and he has been accused under section 354 and 354 (A) of the IPC. Prajwal Revanna charges as accused number two and has been arrested under Sections 376, 376 (2)(k), 354, 354 (a), 354 (b) among others which falls under IPC.
It identifies more than 130 witnesses and other evidence, including forensic that prove that the man WA in the viral video clip of the alleged sexual assault and rape is Prajwal Revanna.
According to the chargesheet, HD Revanna sexually harassed the domestic help at least twice when she worked in their house which is between 2019 and 2022.
According to the chargesheet, Prajwal Revanna raped the victim in 2020 while his mother Bhavani Revanna had taken the victim to the city to clean the house.
Further, the allegations of sexual abuse against Revanna appeared on the surface after videos of more than 2900 minor girls in which some were sexually assaulted were shared in the social media platforms.
Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna were booked under the Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insult to the modesty of woman) of IPC on April 28 at the Holenaraseepur town police station in Hassan district.
At common law, the criminal case was initiated on basis of a report made by one of the intended victims. Currently, an SIT that is headed by the IPS officer BK Singh has been tasked to investigate the incident.
They became alive after the newly elected MP from Hassan, Prajwal Revanna who went absconding to Germany immediately after the April 26 Lok Sabha polls in the State.
He was arrested after he got back to India on the 31st of May.
He was given to SIT remand from 31 May till 10 June. In the second rape case he was taken to SIT custody from June 13 to 18 Later he was taken SIT custody June 13 to 18. In the third rape case, police said the SIT was granted remand till June 24.
Prajwal Revanna is presently being detained in judicial custody.
Although, HD Revanna was released on bail in the two counts of kidnapping as well as sexual assault in May this year by a special court, the Karnataka High Court had later restrained the bail order.
