Shiv Sena Leader Murder Case: Bombay HC Transfers Probe to CBI

The Bombay High Court on Friday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the murder of the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and the former BMC corporator, Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot while live on Facebook (Meta) [Tejasvee Abhishek Ghosalkar v. State of Maharashtra].

The Division Bench, justices Revati Mohite Dere and Shyam C. Chandak remitted to the CBI observing that the crime branch investigation created ‘loose ends’ in the case.

The order earlier today was made passed on the grounds of a petition filed by one Tejaswee Ghosalkar the wife of Ghosalkar.

“The crime registered at the MH Colony police station for investigation by the crime branch which was taken up, is transferred now to the CBI The zonal director of CBI shall be bound to appoint an officer not below the rank of SP from IPS cadre for the case The CBI may choose their own team In order the relevant portions of the investigation has to be handed over to CBI as early as possible and in any case latest by the coming

Abhishek Ghosalkar 41 year old was shot at in a Facebook still streaming live at Borivali which is in the outskirts of Mumbai at 9.30 pm on February 8 year.

Mauris Noronha, 47, who was alleged to have attacked him, also died by a gunshot at the same day. The crime branch constituted two teams to analyse this case. The shooting which left Ghosalkar injured on his abdomen and shoulder was videotaped and the video exposed on the internet. The suicide of Noronha happened shortly after the shooting had taken place.

In the petition, Ghosalkar’s widow put down that she had made multiple appeals to various authorities from the Mumbai Commissioner of Police to order the formation of a special investigation team. Despite the efforts that she made she was let down and there was no concrete action taken.

She also made a complaint to MHRC, the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission regarding severe human rights abuses in her husband’s brutal and transfer public murder whose case still remains unsolved.
