In a case filed by BJP against Rahul Gandhi following the ‘how many Modi’ remark in the Parliament recently a Bengaluru court released Rahul Gandhi on bail on Friday.

The presiding officer of the Special Magistrate KN Shivakumar allowed the Indian media to cover the hearing and released Gandhi on bail after he entered a physical appearance and fixed the case for the next trial on June 30.

On Behalf of Gandhi, former MP DK Suresh himself deposited property valued ₹75 lakh as surety of the affidavit.

The defamation case was filed by BJP leader Keshav Prasad Gandhi, Shivakumar & MLA – against Siddaramaiah of Karnataka CM for defaming BJP party by releasing the advertisements & campaigning slogans of Congress party during 2023 Karnataka Assembly election.

While placing the Congress party’s allegations in the adverts that depicted the BJP, which was in the power in the State at the time, as extorting up to 40 percent commission/bribes from contractors and other individuals for the performance of public works.

In its complaint BJP said that congress leaders put false and misleading advertisements to target its party members including the then CM Basavaraj bommai.

on 1ST June the petitioner Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar personally appeared before the Court of Hon’ble the Judge who directed to release both the petitioners on bail on executing of bail bond for ₹5,000 each.

Similarly, on the same day, attorneys representing Gandhi also sought his exclusion from proceedings due to his attendance to an INDIA alliance meeting.

The Court does not require him to appear but had directed his attendance today Sesa, on June 7.

Today was Gandhi’s turn to appear before the Court and his bailed accepted.
