  • Holding a post with six years of regular service in Pay Matrix Level-8 (Rs. 47,600–1,51,100) or equivalent.

In addition to the service background, applicants must meet the following educational and professional criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university or institution, along with three years of experience handling legal matters in government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), autonomous bodies, statutory authorities, or recognized research institutes; OR
  • A Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) from a recognized university or institution, along with one year of experience in legal matters across similar government or statutory organizations.

Eligibility Criteria for Assistant (Legal)

The Assistant (Legal) position is also open to officers working under the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, autonomous bodies, or statutory bodies. The role requires foundational legal competence and proven government service experience.

Eligible officers must satisfy the following service requirements:

  • Holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre; OR
  • Five years of regular service in posts in Pay Matrix Level-6 (Rs. 35,400–1,12,400) or equivalent in their parent cadre or department.

Along with service eligibility, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university or institution.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience handling legal matters within the Central Government, State Governments, UT administrations, PSUs, autonomous bodies, or statutory institutions.
