Last day, there were six advocates running for the post of President of the SCBA. This day they got the chance to explain to the crowd the reasons why they should be selected as President of the SCBA.
Dressed in the election roster for the post of the President of SCBA are the Senior Advocates Sinanoid Adish Aggarwala (The present President), Kapil Sibal, Priya Hingorani and Pradeep Kumar Rai and Advocates Neeraj Srivastava and Tripory Ray.
Aggarwala started off, delivering his speech in Hindi, and he went onto confirm that the administration will run according to democratic principles.

Instead of elections held in high temperature months, it should be the ones taken place during winter period when most of others are comfy. Priya Hingorani
Rai restated that he would work toward the enforcement of the constitution not at the accord of any political gains of this SCBA.
“I have never been endorsed or supported anybody politically.” I consider SCBA to be a surrogate family because when I am with my team, I can express the real me; that is the reason why I am always very attached to them. I am determined to put in place measures and mechanisms to stop realpolitik and personality cult use of the newly won freedom. I, going to be striving upholding the Constitution.
As per the plan, the proposed 9-storey chamber building has been allotted to the Chief Justice of India. The construction of that would be resumed.However, that plot would be done at ITO. Tripurari Ray
He underlined that he is not seeking to be elected to the post for money, but to address concerns regarding degradation of the legal profession.
“I came to this Court with no senior back in the day. So those who say I do not understand young people’s problems…By dint of hard work we rose. What is the fundamental duty of a lawyer? We are here to protect the rule of law and the Constitution. It involves that I recognised each one of you, not by your affiliation, political or otherwise, but the black coat that you wear.
The black means he will stand up for each citizen and the Constitution, he will stand up before the Court if it does not cherish Constitutional values. We are not here to make money. We do a lot of of pro bono wrork because we know not many will represent the poor and marginalised.
I have done that many times. I need this office for what? Money? No. I have come after 21 years because I can see the degradation before my own eyes – how the legal fraternity is being treated and the Registry is not following the law.”
He also reminded the audience about how his family had come to India as refugees during the partition of 1947 – a response to criticisms about him being from an elite background and inaccessible.
“I am from a refugee family, not from the elite and we shall continue to represent those who need a voice. You ask anybody – during my earlier tenures did I ever talk about politics in the courtroom? Never. Because I believe it should be kept outside the courtroom. People say I want you to be accessible. Was I not accessible when I was President three times? Give me examples in the last 50 years that I ever closed the door for any member of the Bar. Did I ever not work for a politician who did not belong to my party? We are here for the country,” Sibal said.

Advocate Neeraj Srivastava, the third speaker of the evening, assured the public that he would take active participation in the matters related to Bar and would also work in the resolution of difference between the two major organs of the justice system, i.e. the Bench and the Bar.
I also agree with whatever have been said. The main motive of electing me is to resolve the differences which have been around Bar and Bench. It’s assures that I will work for welfare of the bar.

The discussion today, with senior advocate Jaideep Gupta reluctant to dissuade all lawyers from ensuring that the Supreme Court’s functioning is not impeded while the election process is at work.
“Model Code of Conduct is still persistent. You are more than that! You should not droop your head, form a namaskar or pass the time doing the things old students do. Today the Court does not work as it should for anyone to hinder its working, it will be tomorrow. Tomorrow’s election in the library is running from 10 AM until 5 PM starting in room 1. “The administration is obliged to request everybody not shoot the library,” he added.
