Cars Swept Away In Raging Flood In Himachal Tourist Hotspot
In one of the states that make up Himachal Pradesh, a video showed puffed up torrents of murky brown water that were dragging many cars along with it. The film documented the heartbreaking scenes that were seen across north India as a direct result of the heavy rain and flooding that had occurred.
The most recent incident was reported from Parwanoo, which is a well-liked tourist attraction in the Solan region of the state and is where the incident took place.
The footage showed individuals on balconies shouting and recording the destruction on their mobile devices as cars bobbled around in the surging water below them.
The intense rainfall has transformed streets into raging waterways, washed out bridges, and rendered roads inaccessible, prompting the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to implore people to remain inside their homes during the storm.
The landslides and flooding that have happened in a number of different sites have rendered the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway impassable at the present time. The Shimla-Kinnaur Road is currently closed to car traffic due to rock falls and falling debris. During this period, the road is also closed to pedestrian traffic.
Flash floods were responsible for the damage of bridges and the washing away of portions of roadways in a number of communities.
According to a statement that was issued by the government, the Chief Minister was quoted as saying that an investigation into the scope of the damage is currently under way, and that preliminary estimates place it somewhere in the range of 3,000 to 4,000 crores.
Around 800 roads are still closed in the state. Officials from the department of transportation have stated that bus services on 1,255 routes that are managed by the Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) have been suspended, and that 576 vehicles are currently stalled at various points along the route.
The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that the lengthy period of heavy rainfall that has been afflicting Himachal Pradesh is expected to ease beginning on Tuesday. This news came as a relief to residents of the state who have been dealing with the effects of the rains.
