Baba Siddique Death: How NCP leader was shot dead outside son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra

Baba Siddique Death (Murder) News: The NCP leader Baba Siddique was attacked by some unidentified gunmen and killed on October 12 in Mumbai. Mumbai Police has nabbed two men in relation to the Baba Siddique assassination. Baba Siddique has held the Bandra (West) seat of the Maharashtra Assembly for three timers.

He resigned from the Congress this year and then crossed over to the Ajit Pawar-formed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in February.
Here’s what we know so far

  1. Baba Siddique was outside his son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar in Bandra (East) around 9:30 pm when he was shot dead.
  2. The two men, whose faces are unknown, got out of a car and fired at Baba Siddique in the sounds of revolved crackers while celebrating Dussehra.
  3. Sources medics at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai said that Baba Siddique was shot at least twice in his chest before beginning the transport to the hospital. The hospital said he succumbed to his injuries even after efforts to revive him were made.
  4. Dr Nitin Gokhale, a cardiologist at the same hospital, corroborating his information, said that the exact number of shots could only be ascertained after a post-mortem was conducted. Originally the operant patient was a dead man who did not have any pulse or blood pressure when the attendants of Baba Siddique brought him in. He was injured by a gun and had two shots in the chest. We began life support measures and moved him to the Intensive Care Unit. He was declared dead at 11:27 PM. The total number of bullets will be confirmed after conducting the post-mortem,” Dr Gokhale told the press/PTI.
  5. According to the latest information, he is being shifted to Cooper Hospital for the autopsy.
  6. Maharashtra’s chief minister, Eknath Shinde, who went to Lilavati hospital last night, promised to take strong action against all the wrongdoers. He also informed the media that two suspects had been arrested, but one was still on the run. ‘This is rather very unfortunate.’ I spoke to the doctors and the police. Two people have been arrested — both the accused are from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The third accused is on the run. Mumbai police have been directed to take stringent action against persons who unilaterally resort to maintaining law & order: Shinde to reporters in Thane, according to PTI.
  7. As reported to news agency ANI, Mumbai Police informed that they found the weapon which was used in the crime. “A 9.9mm pistol was used in the firing,” officials said.
  8. Popular Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, and Sanjay Dutt visited the hospital last night to console the family.
  9. Besides, this has also attracted a very severe response from the opposition side, which has raised doubt over the law and order situation in the state. Notably, the Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for next month. Taking an opportunity to attack the Maharashtra govt, Sharad Pawar tweeted, “X, the law and order situation of this state has worsened.” Sadly, former state minister Baba Siddique was shot in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. If the Home Minister and the rulers are going to push the cart of the state so mildly, then it, in reality, can turn the alarm bell to the common people.”
  10. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray also raised the state’s law and order situation. He demanded, “Outright murder of Baba Siddiqui ji is shameful.” May Godättčk his soul to R.I.P., and we stand with their families and friends during this time of grief. This, sadly, depicts the law and order situation in Maharashtra. According to him, this is obliteration of administration, law and order in the society.
Condoling the losses in his sincerest of words, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the perpetrators must be punished immediately. When talking to X, he said, “The sudden death of Former Maharashtra Minister, Shri Baba Siddique is beyond comprehension”. I join everybody in mourning the death of this great man, and on behalf of my family, I express my sincere sympathy to his entire nuclear and extended family, friends, and all the supporters that he had across the country. It is high time to bring justice, and the current Maharashtra Govt has itself to blame for ordering a clean and transparent probe. The offenders, in the instance, have to be fired for the earliest, though the Board had to award promotions to the employees concerned earlier. Accountability is paramount.”
